Upcycle Week: "Believe in Yourself" & Start Creating with Portrait of a Lady
Hello, G45ers!
Today we are highlighting a fast fan favorite collection Portrait of a Lady. Not only is this collection filled with beautiful imagery, a striking color pallet, but it is also filled with positive sentiments great for fueling your creative projects. We have two Upcycle projects to share with you in this post. Beginning with an inspirational shadow box by Magda Cortez, perfect for any creative space, office, or home centered around believing in yourself. Magda shares a video tutorial filled with stamping techniques, handmade flowers and turning packaging into a treasure. Following we have Katelyn Grosart's fabulous taffy box transformation into a gorgeous and thoughtful keepsake box. With Mother's Day and Wedding season around the corner, it is a great time to get crafty and start making those handmade gifts. So let's jump right into these stunning gem and start your creative engines.
Believe in Yourself By Magda Cortez
"Hi all.. You know I love to upcycle things and today I’m going to show you what I did with some of the Graphic 45 Packages and with an old box lid.. Also I use the button I got at CHA 2017 from the Graphic 45 booth.. it is beautiful and I have so many memories about so I was thinking to put it in a special place and that’s when my idea come! Using the old lid of a box and transform it in to a shadow box to keep my beautiful button! Also I use one of the packages from the Ornate Metal Keys and I die cut some tags from the packages of the Mixed Media Albums.. Did you know G45 has stamps and a collection of Dye Inks? I got so much fun using some stamps on vellum and over the designer paper…All the steps are in the YouTube Tutorial I hope you like it! XOXO" ~ Magda Cortez

A True Lady Gift Box by Katelyn Grosart
"Upcycling has become a big trend now and it allows you to transform an old piece you may throw out into something beautiful. With Mother’s Day right around the corner, I decided to create a beautiful gift box for your mom or that special woman in your life, out of an old taffy box and used the Portrait of a Lady collection as well as some Staples. I hope you enjoy all the photos and are inspired to choose a piece to upcycle at home." ~Katelyn Grosart
Before
Tip:
To add some extra interest to the front of your box, combine a label holder, a sticker, a chipboard piece and some fussy cut images to create a beautiful front to your box.
Tip:
If your box is tight when closing and opening it, adhere washi tape in the corners to help prevent ruining the corners of the patterned paper.
Tip:
Add claw feet to the bottom of the box to give it some extra character.
